<div><span class="full-image-float-left ssNonEditable"><span><img src="http://www.vizionefx.com/storage/IMG_0341.JPG?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1337279866541" alt="" /></span></span>Hobart &amp; William Smith Colleges (HWS), through the Office of Student Life, and in conjunction with the Alcohol Education Project, was seeking a new way to engage and inform it's campus population - and specifically the student body - about high-risk activities involving alcohol and drug mis-use.<br /><br />A key aspect of this project was the need for technology to disseminate data and content driven from Social Norm studies, associated with the Alcohol Education Project, under the direction of renowned scholars H. Wesley Perkins, Ph.D., and David W. Craig, Ph.D.<br /><br />Previously, the Alcohol Education Project disseminated content and data via paper posters or flyers. Drs. Perkins and Craig, and HWS administrators, were seeking a modern vehicle to engage the intended audience in an impactful and meaningful way.<br /><br />HWS felt it important for the chosen platform to be flexible and for the content management to be easy to use. It was also imperative that the presentation be captivating and engaging to potential viewers.<br /><br />HWS was seeking the creation of two platforms - one centric to its Student-Athletes, and a second that would reach its general student population. This need for two platforms was due to data and content that was applicable to each of the different groups of students.&nbsp;<br /><br />Ultimately, this desire would result in installations at multiple buildings and sites across the sprawling campus. &nbsp;</div>
<div></div>
<div></div>
<div></div>
<div>As the selected integrator, VIZIONefx is proud to be working on such a transformative project. Partnering with HWS and the Alcohol Education Project is having a significant impact on student's lives, and has the opportunity to be replicated at other colleges and universities.</div>
<div><br />"In partnering with VIZIONefx, we have technology at our disposal which has dramatically improved the visibility of our efforts in Social Norms education on campus," said H. Wesley Perkins, PhD, and Director of the Alcohol Education Project. "The use of this technology to promote accurate perceptions of positive norms can apply to a wide range of institutions of Higher Education, as well as High Schools and Middle Schools. The ability to engage and educate students through such direct and captivating medium will have significant impact in our health promotion program."</div>
<div></div>
<div><br />To meet the needs of Hobart-William Smith for this project, VIZIONefx developed two (2) separate Information Broadcast Channels - one template specific to the Student-Athlete content and information, and the second template geared to the general student population.<br /><br /><span class="full-image-block ssNonEditable"><span><img src="http://www.vizionefx.com/storage/Counseling%20Wellness%202.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1337280036941" alt="" /></span></span></div>
<div></div>
<div><br />VIZIONefx chose X2O Media as the software partner, and deployed its signage package, Xpresenter Xe - Dynamic Digital Signage Edition. This package provided the flexibility that HWS was seeking - providing the ability to incorporate RSS feeds (news, sports, weather, etc.), while being able to share pertinent content across both channels (Student-Athletes / General Campus). The media players are web connected, providing both VIZIONefx and the client (HWS) the ability to manage content from a unique web portal. VIZIONefx provides support remotely and monitors output and uptime of all software and hardware.</div>
<div></div>
<div></div>
<div><br />"From the outset, this was an interesting and unique project for us," said Scott Getty, VIZIONefx Co-Founder and CIO. "We brought a very useful angle and deployed fantastic technology in order to interact with the student population at Hobart &amp; William Smith Colleges. It is rewarding to help make a difference with all that is being done with Social Norms and the Alcohol Education Project."<br /><br />In providing a modern and robust signage platform, and moving information delivery away from posters and flyers, VIZIONefx has helped HWS and the Alcohol Education Project reappropriate time and funds toward more useful and impactful resources.&nbsp;</div>
